Sleepover with the Twins

So I finally got the twins over to my place for a sleep over (something I've been trying to do since I was a freshman).

The adventure was suppose to start Thursday night and last til Saturday but we were at Matt and Kyoko's all Thursday and didn't get home til late. So we all slept in and left at about noon Friday instead.

It was going to be a blast! I had no idea what we were going to do but I was hoping it was going to be LEGEND- (wait for it. wait for it.) -DARY!

oh I'm so funny.

Anyways. We got to Logan and we were pretty hungry so we decided to go to Sam's club and buy something we could cook at home and eat.

We ended up buying this Orange Chicken thing which felt like maybe 2 lbs. I was so excited! Til we opened it up...

There was a huge bag of fried rice and a small bag of orange chicken. Not what I was expecting. But we all ate and we seemed pretty good with just that.

I was hoping to take the twins to the Art Museum up here BUT Decemeber 25 - January 1.... closed. LAME! but oh well. We got to our apartment.. OH WAIT! We stopped by Gamestop and decided to buy Just Dance 3 for our xbox (kinect :D) and we got home and Bekah and Rachael played it for who knows how long.

Then we.... ate. Yeah thats it! And we watched AFV while we ate. Then I'm not completely sure what happened... I think we started playing another game and Rachael was on the couch and fell asleep. For about 2 hours.

So Bek and James played... Call of Duty ( I think...). One of those games. While I was on pinterest.

Finally I decided I needed to take down the tree from our other room cause that is where the twins were going to sleep. Rach had finally woke up so I made her come up with me (mainly cause I didn't want her falling asleep again) and we took the tree down.

Then we (mainly I) made their bed. Went back downstairs and then we..... did something.

Probably played more games. OR no James and Bek were still playing and so Rach and I started playing a game on my computer (well... I played and she watched.)

Then lots of other stuff happened (I don't remember the order). We watched a Lego Star Wars "movie" we had (it was only 30 minutes).

And more games were played (and possibly more AFV). Then finally we ordered some pizza and James and I went and got it while the twins played another war game (I did not realize they liked those games so much..)

We came back with the pizza and ate while we watched more AFV (maybe that is when we watched it.)

I then decided I wanted to make some cookies (I really decided this a long time ago but I was convinced at this moment)

James sister Kathie has a blog taffytart.blogspot.com and it's pretty much awesome! She cooks a lot and has some amazing recipes. So I wanted to make some sugar cookies and she has the best recipes for it and buttercream frosting. We were missing a few of the ingredients so all four of us went to walmart and got what we needed. (it was so cute. we all wore our christmas pjs.)

Then we got back and they started playing games. Bek did some homework and I started making the cookies. James decided we should double the recipe (sooo many cookies....)

I was worried for a while cause I didn't think they were going to work. But pretty soon I had some awesome looking cookies!

I got myself some cookie cutters that look like cameras for christmas. They are pretty cool.

I made some buttercream frosting and it tastes delicious! I put some in four different bags and put some food coloring in them. It was pretty late when I was done though so we didn't decorate them at all.

(at this very moment it is 6:27 a.m.)

I'll explain that in a second. But we haven't decorated the cookies yet.

After I was done, we decided to stay up a little longer and we watched a movie called Rio (when we went to get the cookie stuff at walmart, we rented a movie from redbox.)

So we watched the movie (which took forever cause turns out... it's super scratched and so it kept skipping and James would rewind and get it back to where it was so we could see everything.)

Then we all went to bed (just a little after midnight). Rachael slept upstairs in our spare room and Bek wanted to sleep on our couch.

So now to why I am up so early.

I'm asleep in my room dreaming away (i think) when I hear this banging!

I shoot up out of bed and there is Bek saying "I need you."

So I come and she takes me downstairs and as we are going downstairs she is explaining everything to me.

Short version. She has the flu and has been throwing up all morning (since 3 to be more exact). But that's not the reason she woke me up. We have really crappy toilets that get clogged very easily. Well, it was very clogged. And water was running over like a waterfall. I didn't have glasses on so I really couldn't see what was really happening but I knew there was nothing I could do by myself so I run back upstairs and wake up James. I try really hard to explain fast what is going on. We run downstairs and he starts unclogging it. I am grabbing towels and trying to cleanup the inch of water on our kitchen floor (near the kitchen sink it was about 2 inches.)

Bek is standing there throwing up in plastic bags.

It was quite the night.

We call emergency maintenance and tell them our floor is flooded and here is what they say "Hope you have a lot of towels."

What the crap is an emergency maintenance for if they won't even help. So I get a little upset in my brain and we grab all the towels we have. (roughly 12 or so huge ones)

We start laying them out and they are sucking up water like crazy and so fast that there really isn't much going on. They suck up a lot but there is still so much water on the floor.

We finally decide there is no way we can soak it up so James runs to Mountain View (the building he works at) and grabs a shop vac, a carpet cleaner and some throw up powder (most amazing stuff ever!)

However... it took him so long that by the time he comes back, the  water has pretty much been soaked up.

So we put all the towels (or at least most of them) in the washer and he starts putting throw up powder on all the remaining water.

So throw up powder is awesome. You just put it on the throw up (or water) and it soaks it all up and lays on the floor dry) So then we swept up all the powder and that was that. There wasn't much else we could do.

During this whole time, Bek is laying on the couch. I got her a bowl so she doesn't have to throw up in bags anymore. And I have the washer cleaning our towels.

I tell James he can go to sleep and I stay on the couch and start writing this up.

Oh! By the way. Bek woke me up roughly around 4:45 in the morning and it is now 6:43. So I'm sitting her hoping she stops throwing up (it's not nearly as bad as it was earlier) and that she can fall asleep.

I feel so bad for her. Is this what it feels like to be a mom? Cause it kinda sucks. But I'm glad I can take care of her.

A little before 6, she asked if I thought she could drink some water. I told her Sprite would probably be better so I was about to run out to the store when I realized I had no money. So I go wake up James again (he went back up maybe 5 minutes before) and I tell him we need to get sprite and I have no money. So the two of us run out and we hope that Lee's is open (we don't really want to go to walmart) We drive past and it opens at 6. We look at the clock and it is exactly 6 so we say "nothing they can do about it". We jump out of the car and try to go in. Why try? The automatic doors are not on yet...

So we stand there and we stand there hoping that someone will walk by and see us.

Finally one of the workers comes up behind us and he lets us in. Totally sounded like he just woke up.

James: Is it alright if we come in?
Worker: ....yeah..

Then James explains that my sister is sick so we are making a sprite run.

We grab some crackers and some sprite and pay at the cashier (who looked at us like we were crazy) and then we came back home. I go to hand bek the sprite and she says "straw?"

So we then search our house for a straw. The only things we have are the plastic straws for our water bottles. So we decide it would be easier to just put the sprite in a water bottle.

And now here I am writing this story. James went back to bed right after we got back from the store and I am still hoping Bek falls asleep.

If she isn't asleep by 7, I was going to call my mom and let her know that bek is super sick. BUT if she falls asleep, I am going to just let her sleep.

It is currently 6:51 and I won't be posting this til later (cause I want to add pictures from our day)

But now I'm thinking I might just post this and add pictures later.

So watch out for another post sometime today and I'll let you know how the rest of things goes.

2D Design Part Two

So I got my cereal box back from my teacher on Monday! So now I can show you my pictures!

Here it is from beginning (kind of) to end.

I drew the outlines on my cereal box and cut out some figures in cardstock.

A few days later, I cut out a lot more stuff AND spray painted the box blue.

I wanted everything to have a black line around them. So I glued them on black paper. (look at the nose.... it's one of my favorites)

This banner is my second most favorite thing ever!

I am most proud of this right here. PandaCups. We had to invent a brand company thing and this is what I came up with.
This is what our living room looked like while I was doing this project (notice the kleenexes... I had a very bad cold)

This is almost everything glued on.

RANDOM!

But I saw this on pinterest and decided to try it out.
Placed popcorn kernels in a brown paper bag (3 T is QUITE the amount). Fold the top a few times so it stays close.

DO NOT STAPLE IT SHUT OR PAPER CLIP IT SHUT! METAL DOES NOT GO IN THE MICROWAVE!

So after that, you put the bag in the microwave for 3 minutes (ours actually does well with less) and you take it out when you hear the popping slow down. Then TA-DA! Popcorn! Add butter and salt and whatever funny flavors you want.

Yay popcorn!!

So back to my cereal box!

This is everything officially glued on. The Nutrition Facts are pretty fun. I changed a lot of stuff.

(I thought I still had the picture on my computer... But I can't find it.)

The words under "Aggie A's" says 'with blueberry marshmallows.'

Here is the back of the box.

HELP LITTLE BLUE FIND HIS WAY TO OLD MAIN.
(BUT DON'T RUN INTO DISTRACTIONS)

Notice the little icons on the maze :D

This is me letting modpodge dry.

This is the end result and when I got it back from my teacher (Bytheway... I got on A)

Here is the side of it. Information for Utah State University.

The modpodge made the box not stand up anymore.... So I had to hold it up to get a picture.

Now! I am currently working on my FINAL for this class! And it is awesome! At first I was a little sad. I thought it was going to be stupid but when I really got into it... It became WAY fun!

Our final project is to design playing cards. We have to design a King, Queen, Jack, Ace, Joker and the back side of the card. We can create a number card for extra credit if we'd like.

At first I was going to do Lego Star Wars. Because I love Legos and I love Star Wars! But I was sitting in my Art History class when the thought popped in my mind. Egypt. I'm egyptian. It only makes sense.

So I sat there for the first few minutes thinking of what I can use for everything. My friend Mariana helped me think up my characters and some of my suits.

My sister, Melissa, asked me to put some pictures up but I thought you wouldn't be able to see anything because pencil never shows up in my pictures. But I decided to try and... IT WORKED!

So you can see the beginning of this project.

These cards will be 7.5 X 9.5 inches big. (it is suppose to be 7X10... but I cut them a little off. oh well.) But after drawing only two of them... I fell in love with this project. This will be way fun and awesome to show off in frames later.

Here is my King with the All Seeing Eye suit :D

This is my Queen with an Ankh suit.

My Jack is a Jackal (makes sense... right?) with a... suit. I don't know what those are called but I know it means 'infinity'.

My Joker was hard for me to chose but my friend Mariana came up with a funny idea. My Joker is Ra. He is know as one of the most powerful egyptian gods. He is the SUN god. So Mariana thought it would be funny to make him the joker. She laughed a long time about the whole thing actually.

That is all I have for now. I need to cut some more boards to draw on (which I will do tomorrow.) Then I can draw the rest. Now remember... I'm not done. This is just the beginning of my drawings. I still need to add the Letters (K, Q, J, A) and other such things. I'm also trying to switch up my king. He looks a little funny in the middle. I need to find a different way to do it.

But yes! These are pretty cool, if I must say myself. This is a way fun project and I just hope that I can finish them in time.

Aggie Basketball

So a few weeks backs, Utah State University had their first real basketball game. And who was it against? BYU!

So... for some weird reason, Utah State hates BYU. Why? I don't know. I don't hate BYU.

But anyways. Because Utah State is crazy... People start getting in line a little too early. So this year, they decided to make this weird team thing so people don't freeze to death waiting in line.

We had to stand in line to get a wristband which then saved us a spot in line. HOWEVER, some crazy rule was that you HAD to sleep there at night. soooo we did it. I didn't want to. But James really wanted to so we did it.

We wanted to lock our tent cause... we don't trust anyone.

This is our friends tent. Their lock is inside.

This is maybe... 1/3 of how many tents were there

Vicious... I know. But it was kinda funny.

These guys painted themselves blue.

Jardine is pretty awesome! This is him practicing.

These are some of the signs.

These guys decided to taking painting themselves one step further and bought blue suits...

Here is Jardine again. Pretty awesome!

I found this hilarious.... Look at the guy in the back and listen to the angels in your head sing "awwwwwwwwwwww"

This is part of the student section.

That poor guy in the gray shirt... His shirt said BYU on it and so did his hat. And people just started screaming at him. Security came and he had to prove he was a student. One guy from the first row came all the way up and I thought he was going to beat this poor kid to death. I felt bad. But... he was the stupid one who decided to wear what he did.

Starting the game!

The end of the first half.

End of the game!

We won! Barely! But we won! So yeah. The game was pretty fun but I will NEVER sleep outside again. It SUCKED!

2D Design

So I don't know how many of you know, but I have been taking a two-demensional design class this semester. The class consists of pretty much anything you can artfully make. (Yup I just made that word up). And you turn it into something.

For example: Our first assignment consisted of us picking an object and then drawing that object 16 different ways. It was pretty cool!

Here is mine:

The second assignment we did, we were suppose to design monograms for your names. May I say, hard assignment! We had to draw a fancy one (for a wedding or something), a corporate one (that we'd have for a business of ours or such) and then one that describes us. Well, I'm a simple person. So I made mine simple.

Fancy:

Corporate:

Myself:

I don't know why I did myself the way I did. I'm just not creative in the "design something for yourself" area.

Our third project was do design music. However, our piece could not actually have anything to do with the lyrics or the name or anything. It had to do with rhythm and beats and so on and so forth. AND we had to make it out of geometric shapes (most ridiculous assignment ever)

I tried so hard with mine. But it was ridiculous. I gave up. There was no way I was going to finish it before it was due. So it was only partially done.

The song I did was Bari Improv from the movie August Rush. I decided to do my geometric shapes with a HOLE PUNCH! Bad idea! Never doing that again.

Turns out I didn't understand the assignment right cause when I looked at everyone else's.... I understood so much better how I should have done it. But my teacher is somewhat of a ditz and even though I showed him my thumbnails and told him how I was going to do it, he never corrected me.

But anywho. I didn't like the assignment. It could have been better had I understood it but oh well.

Here is that assignment:

So the most recent project I have turned in was about propaganda posters. Our teacher taught us how to paint with a paint called Gauche. It's thicker then watercolor but lighter then acrylic. It showed us a technique called Ink Wash. It was pretty cool! It gives your picture a antique sort of look or an olden day print type thing. He had us a practice and I did a picture of Mario!

Mario:

I'm very proud of him! I plan on making a Luigi, Princess Peach and Yoshi so that I can hang them up in frames and possibly show them off in a baby's room someday.

Anywho, the project. I ended up doing a propaganda poster about Adoption. I hope you like it.

Adoption:

I didn't realize that I didn't have a finished product picture. When I get it back, I'll have to take another picture and show you all again.

I'm so proud of this! My teacher must have liked it too cause he put it up in the hallway of the art building (only the cool things get up there!)

My current project is to design a Cereal box. We have to come up with EVERYTHING. Name of the cereal, what it looks like, what it tastes like, a mascot, a free gift to put inside, the brand name (like kellogs or general mills) and so on and so forth.

Everything has to be our own original idea. I wasn't sure what to do at first but once I started thinking about it. I came up with something! With some help from some of my friends, I came up with a name.

Aggie A's. It's a cereal for Utah State University. The mascot is Little Blue (Big Blue when he was younger) and the cereal looks great (in my mind... I haven't drawn it out yet).

But it should be a pretty cool assignment. I hope to get it done sooner then later, and then I'll put a picture up for all to see!
