2D Design Part Two

So I got my cereal box back from my teacher on Monday! So now I can show you my pictures!

Here it is from beginning (kind of) to end.

I drew the outlines on my cereal box and cut out some figures in cardstock.

A few days later, I cut out a lot more stuff AND spray painted the box blue.

I wanted everything to have a black line around them. So I glued them on black paper. (look at the nose.... it's one of my favorites)

This banner is my second most favorite thing ever!

I am most proud of this right here. PandaCups. We had to invent a brand company thing and this is what I came up with.
This is what our living room looked like while I was doing this project (notice the kleenexes... I had a very bad cold)

This is almost everything glued on.

RANDOM!

But I saw this on pinterest and decided to try it out.
Placed popcorn kernels in a brown paper bag (3 T is QUITE the amount). Fold the top a few times so it stays close.

DO NOT STAPLE IT SHUT OR PAPER CLIP IT SHUT! METAL DOES NOT GO IN THE MICROWAVE!

So after that, you put the bag in the microwave for 3 minutes (ours actually does well with less) and you take it out when you hear the popping slow down. Then TA-DA! Popcorn! Add butter and salt and whatever funny flavors you want.

Yay popcorn!!

So back to my cereal box!

This is everything officially glued on. The Nutrition Facts are pretty fun. I changed a lot of stuff.

(I thought I still had the picture on my computer... But I can't find it.)

The words under "Aggie A's" says 'with blueberry marshmallows.'

Here is the back of the box.

HELP LITTLE BLUE FIND HIS WAY TO OLD MAIN.
(BUT DON'T RUN INTO DISTRACTIONS)

Notice the little icons on the maze :D

This is me letting modpodge dry.

This is the end result and when I got it back from my teacher (Bytheway... I got on A)

Here is the side of it. Information for Utah State University.

The modpodge made the box not stand up anymore.... So I had to hold it up to get a picture.

Now! I am currently working on my FINAL for this class! And it is awesome! At first I was a little sad. I thought it was going to be stupid but when I really got into it... It became WAY fun!

Our final project is to design playing cards. We have to design a King, Queen, Jack, Ace, Joker and the back side of the card. We can create a number card for extra credit if we'd like.

At first I was going to do Lego Star Wars. Because I love Legos and I love Star Wars! But I was sitting in my Art History class when the thought popped in my mind. Egypt. I'm egyptian. It only makes sense.

So I sat there for the first few minutes thinking of what I can use for everything. My friend Mariana helped me think up my characters and some of my suits.

My sister, Melissa, asked me to put some pictures up but I thought you wouldn't be able to see anything because pencil never shows up in my pictures. But I decided to try and... IT WORKED!

So you can see the beginning of this project.

These cards will be 7.5 X 9.5 inches big. (it is suppose to be 7X10... but I cut them a little off. oh well.) But after drawing only two of them... I fell in love with this project. This will be way fun and awesome to show off in frames later.

Here is my King with the All Seeing Eye suit :D

This is my Queen with an Ankh suit.

My Jack is a Jackal (makes sense... right?) with a... suit. I don't know what those are called but I know it means 'infinity'.

My Joker was hard for me to chose but my friend Mariana came up with a funny idea. My Joker is Ra. He is know as one of the most powerful egyptian gods. He is the SUN god. So Mariana thought it would be funny to make him the joker. She laughed a long time about the whole thing actually.

That is all I have for now. I need to cut some more boards to draw on (which I will do tomorrow.) Then I can draw the rest. Now remember... I'm not done. This is just the beginning of my drawings. I still need to add the Letters (K, Q, J, A) and other such things. I'm also trying to switch up my king. He looks a little funny in the middle. I need to find a different way to do it.

But yes! These are pretty cool, if I must say myself. This is a way fun project and I just hope that I can finish them in time.

Aggie Basketball

So a few weeks backs, Utah State University had their first real basketball game. And who was it against? BYU!

So... for some weird reason, Utah State hates BYU. Why? I don't know. I don't hate BYU.

But anyways. Because Utah State is crazy... People start getting in line a little too early. So this year, they decided to make this weird team thing so people don't freeze to death waiting in line.

We had to stand in line to get a wristband which then saved us a spot in line. HOWEVER, some crazy rule was that you HAD to sleep there at night. soooo we did it. I didn't want to. But James really wanted to so we did it.

We wanted to lock our tent cause... we don't trust anyone.

This is our friends tent. Their lock is inside.

This is maybe... 1/3 of how many tents were there

Vicious... I know. But it was kinda funny.

These guys painted themselves blue.

Jardine is pretty awesome! This is him practicing.

These are some of the signs.

These guys decided to taking painting themselves one step further and bought blue suits...

Here is Jardine again. Pretty awesome!

I found this hilarious.... Look at the guy in the back and listen to the angels in your head sing "awwwwwwwwwwww"

This is part of the student section.

That poor guy in the gray shirt... His shirt said BYU on it and so did his hat. And people just started screaming at him. Security came and he had to prove he was a student. One guy from the first row came all the way up and I thought he was going to beat this poor kid to death. I felt bad. But... he was the stupid one who decided to wear what he did.

Starting the game!

The end of the first half.

End of the game!

We won! Barely! But we won! So yeah. The game was pretty fun but I will NEVER sleep outside again. It SUCKED!

2D Design

So I don't know how many of you know, but I have been taking a two-demensional design class this semester. The class consists of pretty much anything you can artfully make. (Yup I just made that word up). And you turn it into something.

For example: Our first assignment consisted of us picking an object and then drawing that object 16 different ways. It was pretty cool!

Here is mine:

The second assignment we did, we were suppose to design monograms for your names. May I say, hard assignment! We had to draw a fancy one (for a wedding or something), a corporate one (that we'd have for a business of ours or such) and then one that describes us. Well, I'm a simple person. So I made mine simple.

Fancy:

Corporate:

Myself:

I don't know why I did myself the way I did. I'm just not creative in the "design something for yourself" area.

Our third project was do design music. However, our piece could not actually have anything to do with the lyrics or the name or anything. It had to do with rhythm and beats and so on and so forth. AND we had to make it out of geometric shapes (most ridiculous assignment ever)

I tried so hard with mine. But it was ridiculous. I gave up. There was no way I was going to finish it before it was due. So it was only partially done.

The song I did was Bari Improv from the movie August Rush. I decided to do my geometric shapes with a HOLE PUNCH! Bad idea! Never doing that again.

Turns out I didn't understand the assignment right cause when I looked at everyone else's.... I understood so much better how I should have done it. But my teacher is somewhat of a ditz and even though I showed him my thumbnails and told him how I was going to do it, he never corrected me.

But anywho. I didn't like the assignment. It could have been better had I understood it but oh well.

Here is that assignment:

So the most recent project I have turned in was about propaganda posters. Our teacher taught us how to paint with a paint called Gauche. It's thicker then watercolor but lighter then acrylic. It showed us a technique called Ink Wash. It was pretty cool! It gives your picture a antique sort of look or an olden day print type thing. He had us a practice and I did a picture of Mario!

Mario:

I'm very proud of him! I plan on making a Luigi, Princess Peach and Yoshi so that I can hang them up in frames and possibly show them off in a baby's room someday.

Anywho, the project. I ended up doing a propaganda poster about Adoption. I hope you like it.

Adoption:

I didn't realize that I didn't have a finished product picture. When I get it back, I'll have to take another picture and show you all again.

I'm so proud of this! My teacher must have liked it too cause he put it up in the hallway of the art building (only the cool things get up there!)

My current project is to design a Cereal box. We have to come up with EVERYTHING. Name of the cereal, what it looks like, what it tastes like, a mascot, a free gift to put inside, the brand name (like kellogs or general mills) and so on and so forth.

Everything has to be our own original idea. I wasn't sure what to do at first but once I started thinking about it. I came up with something! With some help from some of my friends, I came up with a name.

Aggie A's. It's a cereal for Utah State University. The mascot is Little Blue (Big Blue when he was younger) and the cereal looks great (in my mind... I haven't drawn it out yet).

But it should be a pretty cool assignment. I hope to get it done sooner then later, and then I'll put a picture up for all to see!
